Euonymus planipes (Koehne) Koehne (syn. E. sachalinensis hort.) Native of Hokkaido, N. Honshu, N.E. China, Korea, and E. Siberia, in woods and scrub in the mountains, flowering in May-June, fruiting in September-October. Deciduous shrub to 4 m. Leaves variable in shape, 7-13 cm long. Flowers green, in hanging bunches of 10 or more (brown, in fewer-flowered bunches in the true E. sachalinensis, endemic to Sakhalin). Fruits 5-angled, with narrow wings, 18 mm across. Sun or part shade. Hardy to -25°C. Early autumn fruiting. |
