Fabiana imbricata Ruiz & Pavon (Solanaceae)
Native to the Andes from Bolivia to Chile and flowering in early summer. This evergreen shrub with heath-like foliage can grow to 2 m in height, but most forms in cultivation are more compact, seldom exceeding 60 cm. Forms with pale mauve flowers are sometimes distinguished as var. violacea; one such clone, 'Prostrata', makes a low spreading shrub. Hardy to -10°C.
