This species is native of Kenya, Tanzania and N Mozambique. It makes an evergreen or semi-deciduous shrub to 4m. It has leaves to 12cm and bears delicate pendulous flowers with long styles, on slender drooping stalks. It is a popular ornamental plant throughout the tropics and can be grown in a greenhouse in. Europe, provided the temperature does not drop below 5°C. As the flowers are borne on the previous year's wood, pruning must be done sparingly, immediately after flowering.
