x Halimiocistus (Janchen) is the name given to hybrids between Halimium and Cistus, several of which are cultivated. x H. wintonensis O. & E.F. Warb. is a hybrid between C. salviifolius L. and probably Halimium lasianthum (Lam.) Spach, with mainly white flowers; ‘Merrist Wood Cream’ is a cultivar of this that bears creamy yellow flowers with red spots. Other crosses have white flowers, sometimes with a yellow base.

x Halimocistus wintonesis O. & E. F. Warb. 'Merrist Wood Cream' A hybrid between Halimium ocymoides and Cistus salviifolius raised at Merrist Wood Horticultural College, Guildford in 1970. A low spreading evergreen shrub to 50 cm, flowers about 5 cm across, in May and June. Well-drained soil; full sun. Hardy to - 10°C.
