Justicia adhatoda L., syn. Adhatoda vasica Nees (Acanthaceae) An upright evergreen shrub with dark green leaves and spikes of white flowers, native of India and Sri Lanka, flowering in January–March. Stems 2–3m; leaves to 20cm, usually puckered between the sunken veins. Flowers 3cm long, the lower lip veined red. For good moist soil. Min. -4°C.
