Lonicera hildebrandiana Collett & Hemsl. (Caprifoliaceae) Giant Burmese Honeysuckle, Giant Honeysuckle A strong-growing evergreen climber with leathery leaves and long narrow scented flowers, native of Manipur to the Shan states in Burma and east to Yunnan, flowering in summer. Climber to 25m. Leaves broadly ovate, to 12cm long, 10cm across. Flowers 10–16cm long, opening whitish, changing to yellow and orange as they fade. Fruit to 2.5cm long. The largest but most tender honeysuckle, surviving outdoors on Tresco and the Riviera. Min. -3°C. Z9. |
