Lagerstroemeria indica L. (Lythraceae) Crape Myrtle or Crape Flower Native of China and Korea, in grass and on cliffs at 30-800 m. Deciduous shrub to 8 m. Leaves 3-5 cm long. Flowers to 4 cm across, reddish in the wild, but also white and pink in cultivation. Any soil; full sun. Hardy to -10°C, if the wood is well ripened. Summer. Requires a very hot summer to flower in S. England. Good autumn colour. Z7.
