Keckiella cordifolia (Benth.) Straw, syn. Penstemon cordifolius Benth. A scrambling shrub with short opposite leaves and tubular 2-lipped reddish flowers, native of California from San Luis Obispo Co., S to Baja California, growing in dry rocky canyons, flowering in May–July. Stems to 3m; leaves 2–5cm long. Flowers 3–4cm long. For a warm sunny position and dry soil. Min. -5°C.
