Malpighia glabra L. Barbados Cherry A shrub with dark green lanceolate leaves and red or pink flowers in umbels, native of Texas, the West Indies and N South America. Shrub to 3m; leaves c.8cm long, opposite. Flowers in umbels of 3-5. Fruit globose, red 5-10mm across. For any good soil. The fruits are an exceptionally rich source of vitamin C. Min. 0°C.
