Magnolia ashei Weatherby
Native of N.W. Florida and E. Texas, growing by streams and on hills in woods at 30-60 m, flowering in March-April. Deciduous shrub or small tree to S m, with huge thin leaves to 60 cm long, 30 cm across, silvery beneath, petals 10-14 cm long. Rich, leafy moist soil; shelter and part shade. Hardy to -15°C. Early summer. |
