Magnolia acuminata L. Cucumber Tree
Deciduous forest tree, native to eastern N. America. Cultivated in eastern states and in Europe as an ornamental. Height to 18-27m (60-90ft). Flowers open in May with erect petals about 5-7.5cm (2-3in) long . Fruits are usually about 7.5cm (3in) long, and when young and green look something like a cucumber, giving this tree its common name. Z4.
