Parthenocissus tricuspidata Planch. (Vitaceae) Japanese Creeper or Boston Ivy
Native of Japan, where it is common, Korea and W. Hubei and Jiangxi, on rocks and in forests, at up to 1200 m. A rampant climber to 20 m clinging by round pad-like suckers on the tendrils. Leaves shining, thick, to 12 cm long; on creeping shoots, the leaves 3-foliolate; on climbing, the smaller leaves cordate, crenate, the larger 3-lobed, colouring well in autumn. Any soil; sun or shade. Hardy to - I5°C.
