Pandanus utilis Screw Pine
This native of Madagascar has stilt-like, aerial roots. a twisted stem, and pineapple-like fruits which are edible when ripe.
Cultivation Needs well-drained soil in sun.
Height to 20m (65ft); spread to 4.5m (15ft). USZ 10–11, surviving -1°C (30°F) of frost for short periods only. Needs water in summer.
