Quercus canariensis Willd., synonym Quercus mirbeekii Durieu. Algerian Oak or Mirbeck's Oak
Deciduous, native to north Africa also found in Spain. Height to 35m (120ft). Acorns ripen in one year to 2.5cm (1in). Leaves are 9-15cm (3½-6in) long, the underside usually has touches of flock on the mid rib often concentrated near the base. They remain on the tree until well after Christmas. Z7.
