Tabernaemontana pandacaqui Lam A shrub or small tree with shiny dark green leaves and pure white jasmine-like flowers, scented at night, native of SE Asia to Australia, flowering in summer. Tree to 14m. Leaves thin, 3–25cm long. Flowers solitary or paired in the upper leaf axils, with a slightly twisted tube 8–22mm, the lobes overlapping, 0.25–1 times as long as the tube. The distinction between these species seems unclear, but the larger and fewer-flowered plants grown in Hong Kong seem to belong to this species. In the double-flowered form the flowers are like small gardenias; the plants are easier to grow and can be stood outside in summer. Min. 0°C
