Tilia petiolaris DC. Weeping Silver Lime, Pendent White Lime or Weeping White Linden May be native to the Caucasus or of garden origin. Grown in gardens, parks and town streets. Height to about 24m (80ft). Strongly scented flowers open in late July, and have a narcotic effect on bees. Fruits are slightly ridged, about 1.2cm (½in) long and are rarely fertile. Leaves are dark green above, white and downy beneath with long downy stems, and are borne on hanging shoots. Bark is dark grey with narrow ridges and furrows. |
