Spathodea campanulata Beauv. (Bignoniaceae) African Tulip Tree A stiff upright tree with pinnate leaves and heads of scarlet upright, bell-shaped flowers, edged with yellow, native of Africa in Uganda and Kenya, flowering much of the year. Tree to 20m. Leaves evergreen, to 50cm long. Flowers 12cm long. Fruits 15–21cm, oblong-lanceolate. Commonly plant in subtropical climates, where main flowering seasons are spring and autumn. Min. 0°C. Z10.
