Ulmus x hollandica 'Vegeta' , synonym U. vegeta Lindl. Huntingdon Elm or Chichester Elm
Planted in streets, parks and gardens. Height to about 35m (116ft) with a dome-shaped crown. Flowers open in early April and fruit are set by late April, about 1.8cm (žin) long with seed in the centre, usually marked by a reddish or crimson blotch. Leaves are longer and narrower than
U. x hollandica 'Hollandica' and have longer stems, 1.2-1.8cm (˝-žin). They are smooth and shiny above with tufts of down in the axils beneath. Young shoots are bright green and only slightly hairy. Bark is grey or brown, and ridged. Zone 5
