Ulmus x hollandica Mill. 'Hollandica', synonym U. major Sm. Dutch Elm
One of a group of hybrids between U. glabra and U. minor. Height to about 35m (116ft). Flowers open in late March, fruits about 1.8cm (¾in) long with the seed touching the edge of the wing. Leaves are broad, with dark green rough upper surface and paler under surface with rough hairs on the veins. New shoots are hairy. Bark is dark grey and flaky. Zone 5
