Solanum laciniatum Ait. Kangaroo Apple A vigorous evergreen shrub with attractively divided foliage and deep violet-blue flowers, native of Australia and New Zealand, growing in coastal areas in open scrub and forest margins at low altitudes, flowering in summer and autumn. Shrub to 3m, with purple stems. Leaves to 30cm, pinnately divided into up to 9 narrow dark green lobes. Flowers 2.5cm wide, 3–8 in axillary clusters, followed by ovoid yellowish berries 2.5cm long. Min. -5°C. Handsome shrub of distinctive appearance with attractive fingered leaves and richly coloured flowers. Z9.
