Schefflera elegantissima (Veitch ex Mast.) Lowry & Frodin, syn. Dizygotheca elegantissima Veitch ex Mast. False Aralia, Petit Boux Caledonien. A many-stemmed shrub or small tree with 7–11 narrow, jagged-toothed leaflets and a compound umbellate inflorescence, native of New Caledonia, growing in tropical forest, often as an epiphyte or on rocks, flowering in autumn. Tree to 15m or more. Leaflets of juvenile plants to 23cm long, 3cm wide, linear-oblong, dark green with a white midrib; mature leaflets oblong, 25cm long, 8cm wide. Commonly grown as a houseplant. Min. 5°C.
