Schefflera actinophylla (Endl.) Harms., syn. Brassaia actinophylla Endl. (Araliaceae) Australian Ivy-palm, Octopus-tree. A many-stemmed large shrub with 7–16 deflexed stalked leaflets and stiff upright spikes of red flowers and fruit, native of New Guinea, Queensland and the Northern Territories, growing in tropical forest, often as an epiphyte or on rocks, flowering in summer. Shrub to 12m or more. Leaflets to 30cm long, 10cm wide, oblong, shiny dark green. Fruit in upright or spreading bunches, pink to red before turning black. For a tropical climate or can be grown in a pot. Min. 0°C. Z10.
