Viburnum lantanoides Michx. (syn. V. alnifolium Marsh.) Hobble-bush Native of Ontario and Prince Edward Is. south to Georgia and Tennessee (in the mountains), in damp woods and shady valleys, flowering in May-June. Deciduous shrub to 3 m; often layering to form a thicket. Similar to V.furcatum (q.v.) but differing in having fertile flowers with rounded corolla lobes and longer stamens. Moist, preferably acid soil; shade or part shade. Hardy to 30°C. Early summer. Zone 3
