Salvia apiana Jeps. (Labiatae) Bee Sage California White Sage. A low shrub with long flowering stems topped by whorls of white flowers, native of California from Santa Barbara S to Baja California, growing in dry stony places below 1500m, flowering in March–July. Stems to 1.5m; leaves stalked, oblong-lanceolate, 3cm long. Calyx 5–7mm. Corolla 1.2–2.2cm. An attractive large shrub for a dry climate. Min. -3°C overnight. Z8.
