Salix matsudana Koidz. including the cv. 'Tortuosa' Contorted Willow.
A cultivated variety of the Pekin Willow (S. matsudana) which is a rare Chinese species. Planted in streets and gardens. Height to 12m (40ft). Catkins are female and open in April, about 2.5cm (1in) long. They develop into fruiting catkins which release white cottony seeds in June. Twigs and leaves are curiously twisted and curled. Z5.
