Salix magnifica Hemsl. (Salicaceae). Native of W. Sichuan, in mountain scrub and by streams at 2000-3000m, flowering in May-June. Deciduous shrub to 7.5 m. Male catkins 10-18 cm long, female 18-30 cm. Moist soil; sun or part shade. Hardy to -15C. Spring. Z7.
