Actinidia chinensis Planch. Syn. Actinidia deliciosa C.S.Liang & A.R. (Actinidiaceae) Chinese Gooseberry, Kiwi fruit or Yangtao Native of most of China, commonest in W. Hubei, S. Sansu and W. Sichuan, growing in scrub and oak forest at 200-2400 m, flowering in June. A robust deciduous climber to 8 m, shoots densely reddish-hairy; leaves large, up to 20 cm across, broadly heart-shaped. Female flowers opening creamy white, deepening with age, male flowers yellow, male and female on separate plants. Any soil; sun or part shade. Hardy to -15°C. Summer. Z7. |
