Agapetes buxifolia Hook. fil. (Ericaceae) A spreading shrub with small leaves and tubular red flowers, native of Assam and Bhutan, growing in forest at 600–1350m, flowering in February–April under glass. Shrub to 1m high and wide; young stems bristly; leaves 2–3cm, elliptic, shallowly toothed and glandular towards the obtuse apex. Flowers to 2.5cm long. Free-flowering and easily grown in a pot in acid soil or on a raised peat bed. Min. -3°C.
