Aeonium arboreum (L..) Webb & Berth. syn. A. manriqueorum Bolle (Crassulaceae) A shrubby succulent with branched stems and terminal rosettes of leaves, blackish in ‘Zwartkop’, flushed red in ‘Atropurpureum’, native of Gran Canaria, growing on cliffs and rocks, on the north coast and in the mountains at 300-1200m, (and naturalised on the Californian coast), flowering in spring. Stems branched, to 1m. Rosettes 12-20cm across. Leaves spathulate,, ciliate. Flowers yellow, in a conical pubescent inflorescence. |
