Acokanthera oblongifolia (Hochst.) Codd (Apocynaceae) An evergreen shrub with alternate leaves and very well-scented white starry long-tubed flowers, native of the Natal coast to Mozambique, growing in scrub, flowering in April–December (mainly in early spring). Shrub to 6m; leaves to 6–12cm long; flowers 6–15mm across, the tube to 2cm long. Fruits blackish-purple, very poisonous. For a sunny position. Min. -3°C.
