Acer maximowiczii Pax Syn. Acer nikoense Nikko Maple
Native of Gansu, of W. Hubei around Ichang, and N.W. Sichuan, in woods from 1200-2500 m, flowering in May. Deciduous small tree to 4 m. A member of the snakebark group. Leaves 3- or 5-lobed, with tufts of white hairs in the axils of the veins beneath. Moist soil; sun or part shade. Hardy to -20°C. Z5.
