Acer leucoderme Syn. Acer saccharum ssp. leucoderme. Small Chalk Maple Native to south-eastern United States, particularly Georgia and Alabama, and similar to the Sugar Maple (A. saccharum). Sometimes used as a street tree in some eastern American towns. Height to 6-7.5m (20-25ft). Flowers open at the end of April, male and female in the same bunch. Keys are slightly hairy when young and have spreading wings 1-2cm (½-¾in) long. Leaves are 3-5 lobed, often turning red in autumn.
