Chrysalidocarpus lutescens Bory. (Palmae) A graceful clump-forming pinnate palm, native of Madagascar, the Comores Islands and Pemba Islands where it grows in damp places. Its stems are slender and clustered, eventually reaching up to 6m or more tall and around 15cm in diameter. Leaves pinnate, to 2m, yellow-green, upright and arched at tips. Fruit to 2cm, ellipsoid, yellow to purple. Good in a pot in light shade in a sheltered frost-free place. Min 0°C for short periods only. |
