Banksia victoriae Meisn. Wooly Orange Banksia A shrub with white silky young shoots, deeply toothed leaves and heads of orange flowers, native of Western Australia, growing on sandy plains in the Irwin District, flowering in January–April. Stems to 5m. Leaves 15–30cm, hairy above and beneath with sharp triangular teeth nearly reaching the midrib. Flower heads 8–15cm, tapering at the apex, orange from grey buds. Cone covered with dead flowers. Needs very well-drained light soil; tolerant of heat and drought. Min. -3°C. Banksia victoriae in King’s Park Botanic Garden, Perth
