Banksia speciosa R. Br. Showy Banksia A shrub with white furry young shoots, deeply toothed leaves and heads of yellow flowers, native of Western Australia, growing on sandy plains in the Eyre District, flowering in December– September. Stems to 6m. Leaves 20–40cm, green, hairy beneath with triangular teeth reaching the midrib. Flower heads 12–15cm, yellow from grey buds. Cone covered with dead flowers. Easily grown; tolerant of some frost and drought. Min. -3°C. Banksia speciosa in Perth
