Banksia media R. Br. Southern Plains Banksia A shrub with white furry young shoots and heads of yellow flowers, native of Western Australia, growing on sandy plains near Perth, flowering in February–October (winter). Stems to 6m. Branches stiff. Leaves 6–15cm, silvery beneath, wavy, with sharp teeth. Flower heads 10–20cm, yellow or orange, strongly scented. Cone covered with dead flowers. Easily grown and tolerant of alkaline soil and sea winds. Min. -5°C. |
