Calceolaria integrifolia Murray var. angustifolia (Sweet) Lindl. (Scrophulariaceae) A sub-shrub with sticky hairy leaves and branching heads of small yellow flowers, native of Chile on Chiloe, flowering in summer. Stems to 1.2m; leaves linear-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, to 10cm long. Flowers around 2cm across. For good rich soil in a sheltered sunny position. Min. -3°C. Var. integrifolia, syn. C. rugosa Ruiz & Pav., has rugose, often toothed leaves and a shorter stalked inflorescence. C. pavonii Benth., syn. C. perfoliata Ruiz & Pav. from the Andes in Peru and Bolivia, is a robust climber with the upper leaves perfoliate. |
