Cornus nuttallii Audub. Nuttall's Dogwood or Pacific Dogwood Native of California, rare in the south, common in the north, to British Columbia and east to Idaho, in open, mixed woods and scrub in the mountains below 1800 m, flowering April-July, and sometimes again in September. Fruits with many seeds, 1 cm across. Deciduous shrub or small tree to 25 m. Flowers with 4-7 white or pink bracts, 4-7 cm long. Leaves colour red, orange and yellow in autumn. Hardy to -15°C.
