Camellia ‘Winter’s Hope’ A sasanqua-like camellia raised by Dr W.L. Ackerman in Ashton, Maryland, by crossing Camellia oleifera with the hybrid ‘Frost Princess’. A spreading shrub with leaves around 2˝in (6cm) long; flowers white, semi-double, around 3˝in (9cm) across, with around 12 petals and yellow anthers, produced in winter. Introduced in 1985. Remarkably hardy, reputedly to -10°F (-23°C), US zones 6–10.
