Daphne odora Thunb. ‘Aureomarginata’ (syn. 'Marginata') A low spreading shrub with evergreen yellowish-edged leaves and scented pink flowers, native of China and Taiwan, and cultivated in Japan and China since ancient times, flowering in early spring or winter under glass. Shrub about 1m high and wide. Leaves leathery, oblanceolate, 4–8cm long. Flowers 12–14mm across, mostly in heads at the ends of branches. Easily grown in well-drained soil. Min. -8°C. The form with a gold edge is reported to be the hardiest. |
